Ledger Lab is a free practice tool for journal entries, developed for my course ACC 300 "Introduction to Financial Accounting" at the University of Mannheim. It generates new transactions for fictitious companies, checks your entry immediately and explains what went wrong. Hints, model solutions and a cheat sheet are available whenever you need them.
Tasks are organized in four levels that follow the course:
Journal Entry Basics (covers ACC 300 transactions up until L03)
Advanced Revenue & Expense Recognition (covers ACC 300 transactions up until L06)
Advanced Assets (covers ACC 300 transactions up until L09)
Advanced Liabilities & Equity (covers ACC 300 transactions up until L11)
Ledger Lab runs entirely in your browser. No login is required, and nothing you enter is stored or sent anywhere.
I would love to hear your thoughts on Ledger Lab. If you have already used the tool, please tell me about your experience using this form.
Educators interested in using Ledger Lab for their own courses can find more information here.
